Your Notary in Lincoln
Why might you need a notary?
The assistance and services of a notary are frequently required if you need to deal with legal or official matters abroad.
A notary is a member of the oldest branch of the legal profession in the United Kingdom who has special qualifications that are recognised internationally. Many foreign legal systems rely on the involvement of a notary for authenticating documents and signatures both to ensure that those documents are recognised as valid in the country for which they are destined, and to ensure compliance with international money laundering regulations.
It is my job as a notary to prepare, authenticate and certify deeds and other documents for use anywhere in the world. This will usually involve me checking your identity and the capacity or the role in which you act, checking that you understand the documents and intend them to have legal effect and ensuring that all the formal requirements of the particular country are met, for example, as to how they are signed and witnessed. Sometimes there will be additional formalities required such as legalisation by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (obtaining an Apostille) or the Embassy of the country concerned.
It is my job to ensure that all these are met and then my signature and seal as notary will render those documents acceptable to judicial and other public authorities in the country where they are to be used.
